Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku, known for his controversial bills such as the Maandamano Bill which seeks to impose heavy penalties on those organizing chaotic demonstrations in Kenya has once again found himself in the spotlight for negative reasons.
A few days ago, Ruku was publicly criticized by Morara Kebaso, who accused him of being a sycophant of President William Ruto and his administration. Now, a viral video clip has exposed the poor state of infrastructure in his constituency.
During an exclusive interview in K24 studios earlier this week, the Mbeere North MP found himself in unfamiliar territory when Lawyer Morara Kebaso put him to task to explain why Pres William Ruto hasn’t fulfilled his 2022 poll promises.
The video, shared by X influencer Ken Rio Amasha, highlights the dire condition of roads in Nthawa Ward within Mbeere North Constituency. One particularly concerning issue is a 1963 bridge that connects Nthawa and Kambaru towns.
The bridge is in such a bad state that it is sinking, with no action taken by the MP to address the issue. To make matters worse, the bridge lacks barriers, posing a significant risk of vehicles sliding into the river below.
“Can you people believe this? Member of Parliament for Mbeere North, Geoffrey Ruku Kiringa, is always on television every day talking about controversial bills while his constituents are crying foul. The state of roads in his constituency is pathetic. This is Kambaru, Nthawa Ward,” Amasha wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on August 23.
The viral post has sparked widespread criticism, with many questioning Ruku’s priorities and commitment to his constituents. As the situation continues to gain attention, the MP may face increased pressure to address the deteriorating infrastructure in his constituency.
