In a gracious speech, the outgoing Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Erick Theuri congratulated Mr. Omwanza Ombati on his election as the new Commissioner Elect. He also thanked his supporters, donors, and friends for their immense support during his tenure.

Theuri, who served as the LSK President for two years, said he was proud of his achievements and the reforms he initiated in the legal profession. He cited the establishment of the LSK Academy, the enhancement of the LSK Journal, and the promotion of the rule of law and human rights as some of his legacy projects.

He also praised the conduct of the LSK elections, which he said were free, fair, and transparent. He urged the members of the LSK to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in their practice. He also called for unity and cooperation among the lawyers and the judiciary.

Theuri said he was confident that the new Commissioner Elect, Mr. Ombati, would lead the LSK to greater heights and serve the interests of the members and the public. He pledged to offer his support and guidance to the incoming leadership and wished them all the best.

Mr. Ombati, who is a senior partner at Ombati & Associates Advocates, won the LSK Commissioner Elect position with 3,456 votes, beating his closest rival, Ms. Njeri Waweru, who garnered 2,987 votes. He will serve as the Commissioner Elect for one year before assuming the LSK Presidency in 2025.Erick Theuri

The LSK Commissioner Elect is the second-highest position in the LSK hierarchy, after the LSK President. The Commissioner Elect is responsible for overseeing the LSK Council, the governing body of the LSK, and representing the LSK in various forums and committees.
