The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has dismissed musician turned politician Kevin Bahati’s allegations of being enticed by ODM candidate for Mathare Parliamentary seat, Anthony Oluoch to withdraw from the contest for ksh50M.

Sifuna sarcastically stated that Bahati is a weak candidate who can’t threaten the ODM candidate to pull a whooping ksh50M in the form of a bribe to withdraw from the race.

He reiterated that if there is any candidate intending to dash such a colossal amount of money at the expense of dropping his parliamentary bid, then he is not normal.

“Yaani kama kuna mtu ako na KSh 50 million mahali eti anataka kuchukua apee Bahati, huyo mtu kichwa yake ni mbaya. Afanyie nini? Ya nini? (If there is somebody somewhere with KSh 50 million to offer Bahati, that person is not normal. For what purpose),” Sifuna had wondered.

Speaking during an exclusive interview at Radio Citizen, Bahati revealed that ODM candidate Anthony Oluoch had approached him with a mouthwatering deal of ksh50M to withdraw his parliamentary bid in favor of Oluoch.

He noted that he turned down the offer, affirming that his interest is to serve the people of Mathare and that is the motivation for his candidature.

“I was offered ksh50M by Azimio – One Kenya allies to drop my bid favour of ODM candidate Anthony Oluoch. But I rejected, my intention is to serve the people of Mathare” Bahati had alleged.

Sifuna has jokingly responded by asserting that he can only offer the gospel singer, ksh200 to buy a handkerchief.

“Labda huyo naweza mpea tu ksh200 ya Handkerchief. Nani anaweza toa tu ksh50M eti anapea Bahati ajiondoe kwa race? Kichwa yako itakuwa mzuri kweli?” Sifuna added.

Bahati had earlier on endorsed Kenya Kwanza Alliance candidate for the senatorial position in Nairobi, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, arguing that Sifuna’s pride and self-entitlement will cost him to lose the seat to Ruto’s ally.

According to Azimio – One Kenya zoning deal, the Mathare constituency was reserved for the ODM party to field the candidate. Bahati is vying for the seat on Jubilee party ticket.
