President William Ruto has said that he is ready to create an office for Azimio La Umoja leader, together with funding, if the former Prime Minister agrees to completely discard anti-government demos.

Raila has twice held protests against Ruto and his government, accusing him of among others, stealing his win in August last year and making basic commodities unaffordable for Kenyans.

Ruto now says that he is ready to create and hand Raila the office of the Opposition Leader, together with funding from the government, from where Raila can criticize and correct the government.

He has added that Raila will also be free to speak negatively about him and his administration as much as he wants, only that it must be done in a decent manner and in accordance with the law.

“What I cannot condone whatsoever is chaos and the destruction of property and destroying people’s businesses to sabotage the economy of Kenya. That is not acceptable. It is unpatriotic, undemocratic, illegal, unconstitutional and against the rule of law,” he added.

Creation of the office is among the proposals Kenya Kwanza has included in its list of demands, as it continues to engage Azimio in dialogue.
