Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i will ultimately be arrested and charged, National Assembly Majority Chief Whip Sylvannus Osoro claims.

Matiang’i has been having issues with the government, after he claimed that there was a police raid at his home some weeks back.

The government denied this, before police officers publicly carried out a raid on his home in Karen, where they carted away data from his CCTV cameras.

The government has accused him of lying about the initial raid, and has been trying to pin him down for that, with Osoro revealing that the proceedings will most likely culminate in his arrest.

The South Mugirango MP, who, interestingly hails from the Gusii region like the former minister, has added that this will happen not long from now.

“He will be called, charged, and will have him defend himself. It will happen, if not today, someday because our systems are independent,” he has told The Standard.

But he has assured Matiang’i that the arrest will be done in a civil manner. He has asked him that before it happens, he should avoid trying to seek sympathy.

“Even the slightest movement of a stray dog will scare the hell out of him and seek unnecessary sympathy. In case of any arrest, the Kenya Kwanza government will do it in a civil way,” he has added.

Matiang’i’s former docket has also been implicated in an alleged attempt to rig Ruto out in favour of Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga in last year’s election.

He was among former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ministers who were public in their support for Raila, which, however, did not stop Ruto from winning. Uhuru too supported and even campaigned for Raila.
