Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has raised concerns after a customer discovered a counterfeit product at a Quickmart outlet.

In a post shared today, September 21, on X (formerly Twitter), he detailed the troubling experience that underscores the importance of product verification.

The customer visited a Quickmart store and noticed a new gin brand on sale. Using the KRA-approved Soma Label app to check the product’s authenticity, he was shocked to find that it failed the verification process.

When he sought clarification from a store attendant, he received a hostile response, prompting him to reconsider his purchase.

Feeling frustrated, the customer chose a different gin brand that successfully passed the verification check. The situation escalated when the store manager intervened, offering the discounted gin and asking the customer to “let it slide.”

This response raised further questions about the store’s handling of counterfeit products and customer concerns.

“Let the public know about Soma Label and avoid all counterfeited drinks. Better safe than sorry,” the customer urged, emphasizing the need for consumers to be vigilant about the products they buy.

Consumers are encouraged to remain cautious and ensure product authenticity, especially when new brands are offered at discounted prices.

Quickmart has yet to respond to the allegations regarding the counterfeit product. As consumers stay alert, this situation highlights the pressing need for retailers to uphold product integrity and provide excellent customer service, ensuring that shoppers can trust what they purchase.Image
