The supremacy battle and scramble for Mt Kenya votes between Raila’s Azimio – One Kenya and Deputy President William Ruto’s led Kenya Kwanza Alliance has escalated with candidates unleashing vote hunting mechanisms ahead of August 9 contest.
Raila Odinga’s led Azimio – One Kenya Coalition has mastered in inflicting popular artists from the region to dub electorates into Azimio vote basket and downplay DP Ruto’s popularity in the region.
While drumming support for Raila’s presidency in Kiambaa, Kiambu county, popular and influential local artist, Wangari Wakabera was treated to a rude shock after locals snubbed her rally despite employing dance tactics to woo them join Azimio bandwagon.
As she was performing a score of her favourite songs on Azimio – One Kenya truck, hundreds of residents stayed off the rally and stood at a safer distance as they watched the artist perform her songs unperturbed.
This delivered a disturbing corded message to Raila’s popularity in the region despite having Uhuru’s support for presidential contest.
In what was perceived as a tactic plan to win Mt Kenya support, Raila settled on Narc Kenya party boss Martha Karua as his running mate after DP Ruto sourced Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua for Kenya Kwanza deputy president position.
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is believed to command million of votes from Ukiambani region jumped from Azimio train and vowed to vie for presidency on Wiper party ticket.
He quickly picked Narok senator aspirant Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate.
