Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has called for the resignation and arrest of Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, accusing him of being behind a violent attack that targeted him during a recent visit to Kisumu.

Speaking during a press briefing, Osotsi described how what began as a normal trip during the parliamentary recess quickly turned into a frightening experience.

He said he had travelled to the lakeside city to attend to personal matters, including visiting a barbershop and planning to meet a local football official. At one point, he was seated at a café when a group of about 15 to 20 young men approached him.

According to the Senator, the group initially appeared calm, with some of them greeting him, which made him feel at ease. However, the situation changed suddenly.

“They started hitting me while questioning why I support the one-term slogan,” Osotsi said, adding that the attack became so intense that he lost consciousness.

He claimed the attackers continued beating him even after he fell to the ground, leaving him with serious injuries. His security team later responded after hearing the commotion.

During the intervention, Osotsi alleged that one of the attackers attempted to draw a firearm before they fled the scene.

The Senator said he was quickly evacuated through a back exit and rushed to Aga Khan Hospital Kisumu, where he received treatment. He described his condition as serious, mentioning a swollen face, a paralysed hand, and an injured knee.

Osotsi further alleged that the attack was not random. He claimed that he had been under surveillance prior to the incident, saying individuals had been tracking his movements and sharing his location. He also expressed concern that some people linked to the attack followed him to the hospital, raising fears about his safety even after he had been rescued.

He questioned how news of the attack spread quickly on social media, suggesting that there may have been coordination involving bloggers before his team released any official statement.

Linking the incident to ongoing political tensions, Osotsi warned against actions that could fuel division among communities. He insisted that he would not be intimidated and demanded accountability from those he believes are responsible.

His remarks came just hours after Omollo, speaking in Turkana on April 10, 2026, warned leaders against the use of criminal groups to incite violence. He stated that political goonism remains a serious national concern and assured that anyone involved would face the law.
