Lawyer and civic educator Morara Kebaso is facing cyber harassment charges under Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act No. 5 of 2018.

According to a charge sheet presented at the Milimani Law Courts, Kebaso allegedly spread false information online targeting President William Ruto and businessman David Langat.

In his post, Kebaso alleged that William Ruto had approached Langat to request funds for his campaign, leading Langat to use his properties as collateral for large loans.

The post further claimed that Langat’s properties were later auctioned by banks, with Ruto allegedly purchasing them at devalued prices using his influence.

Kebaso’s post was deemed to have been intended to tarnish and discredit the reputation of both Ruto and Langat. The charge sheet specifies that the information shared by Kebaso was false, and he knowingly spread it without lawful excuse, which led to cyber harassment charges being filed against him.Lawyer Morara Kebaso's charge sheet

David Langat, the complainant in the case, is listed as the main victim of the defamatory remarks.

According to authorities, the post not only harmed Langat’s reputation but also aimed to depict Ruto as a corrupt individual benefiting from insider deals.

Witnesses named in the charge sheet include Cpl Edwin Metto and a digital forensics expert, who are expected to provide evidence during the hearing.
