Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has disclosed new details about Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment proceedings, shedding light on the shifting political landscape in the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking in Tharaka Nithi County during the burial of MP George Murugara’s mother, Ichung’wah criticized what he termed as “sympathy-seeking” and misleading narratives that dominated both the Senate and the National Assembly during Gachagua’s ouster.

Ichung’wah assured mourners that the Mt Kenya region is now more stable, stating that fear-mongering by politicians is no longer welcome.

He emphasized that the region is now focused on electing leaders who serve the people, hinting that a new deputy president will soon be sworn in to take Gachagua’s place.

In a bold statement, Ichung’wah recounted Gachagua’s attempt to convince MPs that it was feasible for one individual to own over 20 companies in Kenya.

He also accused Gachagua of exploiting the “Mt Kenya” narrative to manipulate President William Ruto and undermine government operations.

Ichung’wah’s remarks reflect growing discontent within the region’s leadership towards Gachagua, indicating a significant political shift.

The Kikuyu MP’s speech suggests that the region’s political focus has moved from individual gain to prioritizing leaders aligned with public interests.

The address underscores the evolving dynamics within Mt Kenya’s political space, as new alliances begin to take shape ahead of the anticipated swearing-in of a new deputy president.
