Kasmuel McOure, a prominent activist known for his vocal stance against the Finance Bill 2024 and his participation in anti-government protests, has officially announced his intention to run for a political seat in the 2027 General Election. This declaration marks a significant turn in McOure’s public life, shifting from activism to the political arena.

In an interview with KISS FM, McOure passionately explained his decision, stating, “I said in 2022 that I would be active in politics in 2027 because we’ve been electing a bunch of clowns. I am not so sure about joining any political party, but I am trying to see how that looks. So yes, I’ll be on the ballot in 2027.”

His remarks reflect a deep frustration with the current political landscape and a desire to be the change he wants to see.

While McOure has yet to decide whether to run for a legislative or executive role, his focus remains clear: bringing about significant change in Kenya’s government system. His involvement in protests and activism has always been driven by a commitment to the people’s needs, and now he aims to channel that same energy into a formal political role.

McOure’s political ambitions come just weeks after a harrowing experience that saw him seeking refuge at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices.

On the night of July 17, McOure posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he felt unsafe after allegedly receiving credible threats to his life. The activist and his friends were directed to the Muthaiga Police Station and later moved to the Central Police Station, where they spent the night.

This incident underscores the turbulent environment McOure has navigated as a public figure, and now, as a prospective political leader.

As the 2027 election approaches, all eyes will be on McOure to see how his political journey unfolds and whether his vision for change resonates with the Kenyan electorate.
