Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has strongly criticized the newly formed cooperation agreement between President William Ruto and opposition chief Raila Odinga, calling it a betrayal of Kenyans who fought for democratic governance and economic justice.

Speaking at the People’s Dialogue Festival held at Uhuru Park on Friday, Kalonzo, flanked by DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, accused Raila of abandoning the opposition’s core principles by aligning with the government.

According to him, this move disregards the sacrifices made by citizens who protested against the high cost of living and governance failures in 2023 and 2024.

“If there is no formula at KICC today showing how Kenyans will be compensated for the lives lost due to police brutality, then nothing meaningful will come out of the agreement except betrayal,” said Kalonzo.

Eugene Wamalwa echoed these sentiments, vowing that the opposition would remain steadfast in advocating for the rights of Kenyans.

He criticized Raila’s decision to engage with the Ruto administration, arguing that history would judge those who prioritized political expediency over the people’s welfare.

“We have chosen to stand with the Gen Zs and all Kenyans who demand accountability. The opposition remains unshaken, and we will not be swayed by government positions,” Wamalwa declared.

This dramatic fallout within the opposition comes as President Ruto and Raila Odinga held a parallel meeting at KICC, where they pledged to work together for the country’s stability and development.

While the details of their agreement remain unclear, the deal is widely seen as a significant political shift, with potential ramifications for the 2027 general elections.

Kalonzo, however, dismissed any notion that this alliance would guarantee Ruto’s re-election, asserting that the people of Kenya would hold leaders accountable at the ballot box.

As the political landscape shifts, the division between former allies in the opposition signals a new battlefront in Kenya’s evolving governance and leadership struggles.
