Deputy President William Ruto has claimed that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) deleted close to 1M United Democratic Alliance (UDA) votes from the system’s database.

Speaking on Thursday, 2nd June 2022, during European Union meeting at his official residence in Karen, Nairobi, Ruto alleged that electoral commission is preparing to rig election in favour of Azimio – One Kenya coalition candidate Raila Odinga.

”We expect that everybody who is concerned including EU to try and get as much detail as possible both from the electoral commission and these public officials on what all this is all about and how did close to a million names disappear from the register. And many of those names are from what we consider our stronghold. It is a clear attempt to try some monkey games, “ the deputy president said.

Ruto noted that Kenya Kwanza Alliance is ready to work closely with the electoral commission to ensure the discharge of credible election is upheld.

“We do not believe they will succeed but these attempts are a source of concern to Kenyans. We are ready to work with the electoral commission and friends to deliver credible elections” he added.

Ruto’s damning allegations emerges barely a week after IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati assured of free and fair election in August 9 contest.

“I want to assure that the register of voters is intact. I want to assure them that their days is safe; the register has not been breached and we shall have a final register by June 9. We had 19.6 million registered voters in 2017 and now we have 22.5 million. That register ia under audit” Chebukati cleared the doubts.
