Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has addressed the ongoing speculation and public concern following the sudden death of Kariobangi North MCA Joel Munuve. In a recent interview, Sakaja dismissed allegations that Munuve was murdered and called on the public to avoid rushing to conclusions.

He emphasized the need for patience as investigations are conducted to uncover the true cause of death. According to the governor, Munuve collapsed at home, and there is no evidence at this stage to suggest foul play. Sakaja urged people to remain calm and wait for the results of a full investigation before making any accusations or assumptions.

“Allow me to pass my deepest and sincere condolences to the people of Kariobangi North who lost their MCA, Joel Munuve. He collapsed at home. I don’t know why you call it murder. We have asked for a full investigation to understand what happened,” Sakaja said.

His comments were aimed at cooling rising political temperatures and stopping the spread of misinformation. He warned against politicizing the incident, saying that matters of death should be handled with the seriousness and sensitivity they deserve. According to him, no one should try to gain political mileage or create unnecessary fear by pushing unverified claims.

The death of Munuve has shaken many in Nairobi and beyond, especially given the fact that he had no known history of illness. His sudden collapse at home has led some residents and political observers to believe that there may be more to the story. Speculation has been spreading on social media and in political circles, with some individuals calling for a thorough probe into the incident.

Despite this, Sakaja remained firm in his position that all conclusions must wait until official investigations are completed. He said that wild allegations only cause more pain to the grieving family and distract from finding out the truth.

Sakaja also reflected on his working relationship with the late MCA, describing him as a principled and determined leader. He noted that while they did not always see eye to eye, there was mutual respect between them. “He was very firm. There were times we disagreed, but then there were times we also agreed,” Sakaja added.

These comments paint a picture of Munuve as a man who stood for what he believed in, even if it meant clashing with higher political powers.

That firmness is likely one of the reasons why his sudden death has caused so much concern among his supporters.

As of now, no postmortem report has been released, and Kenyans continues to await answers. The family, fellow leaders, and Nairobi residents are left in suspense, hoping that the investigations will provide a clear explanation.

Questions  about what led to Munuve’s collapse continue to circulate, but the governor’s message is clear, people should allow the authorities to do their work without interference or pressure. In a city already grappling with numerous political and governance challenges, the last thing it needs is another layer of confusion and tension fueled by unverified claims. Sakaja’s appeal for calm, though not accepted by everyone, highlights the need for responsible dialogue during such uncertain moments.
