Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei has delved into the big role herself and others did in ensuring that president-elect William Ruto emerged top in the concluded presidential election.

Shollei was among Ruto’s agents who were stationed at the Bomas of Kenya, and was repeatedly accused of using her position to aid with rigging and alleged interference of the presidential results.

She now says that she indeed helped Ruto win, but not through the backdoor, as all she did was to ensure that none of his votes wasn’t accounted for.

The leader says that this is why herself and fellow agents had laptops, which they used to compare what was being announced and what was in the IEBC portal, as a way of protecting Ruto’s votes. This, she said, was done in collaboration with other people employed by Ruto to handle the job.

“The team of brilliant young people that were working for the president-elect were checking the results, from the portal comparing them to what was announced. We worked it out,” she said on Monday.

She noted that the case was different in the other camp which was representing Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Shollei said that those entrusted with protecting Raila’s votes were basically idling in Bomas and not doing what they were sent to do, and instead just sat there as spectators.“I feel sorry for Raila Odinga, his agents came to Bomas empty-handed. Their job was to shout Gladys is stealing. His people lied to him, they don’t work for him‬,” the leader is further quoted.

Thanks to her controversial movements at Bomas, Raila now believes that he was rigged out, and has since filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging Ruto’s alleged victory.

He says that the poll was not free and fair, and the results announced by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati are not the actual ones. His allies maintain that he is the winner but his victory has been stolen.
