Former Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua has once again hit out at President William Samoei Ruto, claiming that he is now the biggest threat to Ruto’s leadership.
While addressing residents of Ukambani, Gachagua told the crowd that he has everything it takes to send Ruto home in the next general election. He even said that the president is losing sleep because of his rising influence and growing political movement. According to Gachagua, Ruto’s days at State House are numbered.
Since his impeachment, Gachagua has grown louder in his criticism of Ruto. He has refused to remain silent, and instead, has created what he calls the “Wantam” notion.
The word “Wantam” is being used as a chant among his supporters, a short form meant to suggest Ruto should only serve “one term” as president. This has become a symbol of defiance and resistance against the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Every time Gachagua addresses crowds, he urges them to shout “Wantam,” turning it into a political weapon aimed at weakening Ruto’s popularity.
Gachagua believes that the “Wantam” chant is not just noise. He claims it represents the voice of ordinary Kenyans who are fed up with poor leadership, high taxes, and empty promises.
According to him, people are struggling to survive while the government remains blind to their suffering. He insists that his campaign is not just about political revenge, but about saving the country from what he describes as Ruto’s failed leadership. Gachagua has vowed to take the message to every part of the country, saying it is time for change.
The former deputy president has also been using every public event to repeat the message that Ruto should pack up and leave after 2027. His team is growing, especially in regions that feel left out or betrayed by the current government.
Gachagua is now positioning himself as a voice of the people, claiming that his impeachment only made him stronger. According to him, the move to kick him out of government was part of a wider plan to silence anyone who questions Ruto’s leadership.
Gachagua is building a movement that could challenge the president’s grip on power. His confidence has rattled those close to the president, with some calling him bitter and others accusing him of trying to destroy the party from within.
But Gachagua doesn’t seem bothered. He continues to repeat that “Wantam” is not just a slogan, it’s a warning. He claims that if things don’t change, more people will join him in rejecting Ruto’s leadership.
He is determined to turn his fallout with Ruto into a national campaign. Whether or not he will succeed is still uncertain, but for now, the former deputy president is doing everything possible to make sure Ruto feels the heat. And if Gachagua’s words are to be believed, the chant of “Wantam” is only getting louder.
