Francis Ogolla, a distinguished military officer and the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), was born on a momentous day in history, April 18, 1964. Hailing from Siaya County, Francis Ogolla embarked on his military journey on April 24, 1984, when he joined the Kenya Air Force as a cadet officer.

His illustrious career has seen him rise through the ranks, assuming command of various divisions within the KDF, culminating in his appointment as the Chief of Defence Forces on May 11, 2022.

Educated at Egerton University and the University of Nairobi, Francis Ogolla holds a Diploma in International Studies and Military Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Armed Conflict, and Peace Studies (First Class Honours), and a Master of Arts in International Studies.

His academic background, coupled with his extensive military training, has equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in his role as the CDF.

Throughout his career, Francis Ogolla has served in various capacities, including as the Vice Chief of Defence Forces, Commander of the Kenya Air Force, and Deputy Commander of the Kenya Air Force.

His dedication to duty and commitment to excellence have earned him numerous accolades, including the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) and Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).

Despite his many accomplishments, Francis Ogolla remains a humble servant of his country, striving to uphold the values of the Kenya Defence Forces and to ensure the safety and security of the Kenyan people.

In the face of adversity, such as the unfortunate chopper crash in West Pokot, General Francis Ogolla demonstrates resilience and determination, embodying the spirit of the Kenya Defence Forces and inspiring others to serve their country with honor and integrity.
