Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has had part of his security detail reinstated, just a week after he voiced concerns for his safety.
The reinstatement follows a series of events that saw Gachagua embroiled in a tumultuous legal battle to maintain his position.

Gachagua attended a church service at Saint James ACK Cathedral in Kiambu County on Sunday, accompanied by a more robust security presence.
His close ally, Kiambu Senator Karungo wa Thang’wa, confirmed the development, urging the government to restore Gachagua’s staff as well, stating, “Justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.”
This comes on the heels of Gachagua’s alarming statements made outside Karen Hospital last week, where he accused higher government officials of obstructing his attendance at key events, including the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The situation escalated after Gachagua’s office faced significant disarray, with 108 staff members reportedly put on compulsory leave following his impeachment.
During the church service, Gachagua didn’t shy away from addressing the President directly, emphasizing the ongoing rift between them. “We forgive but we don’t forget,” he remarked, referencing historical injustices.
He also highlighted struggling sectors within the country, calling on the President to take corrective measures.
As Gachagua continues to navigate these turbulent waters, the reinstatement of his security detail marks a significant, if tentative, step in a complex political landscape.
