Jubilee party candidate for Mathare Parliamentary seat, Kelvin Kioko, popularly known as Bahati has been asked to withdraw from contest in favour of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Anthony Aluoch.
Speaking on Monday, morning during the joint Azimio – One Kenya delegates meeting, ODM secretary general and Nairobi senatorial hopeful Edwin Sifuna conditioned Bahati to drop his bid in favour of Antony Aluoch, in the spirit of upholding Azimio – One Kenya zoning deal.
Jubilee party was offered to field 8 candidates out of 17 constituencies in Nairobi county.
“Our colleagues from Jubilee will be presenting their candidates from eight constituencies and those from ODM will present some from eight constituencies,” said Sifuna.
Sifuna claimed that Mathare constituency had been zoned for ODM candidate and it was up-to the singer withdraw from the race and await to be appointed for lucrative position in Azimio – One Kenya.
“Zoning was done perfectly even here in Mathare we have agreed that its an ODM zone. We only have one candidate in Mathare and that is Anthony Oluoch, this young man called Bahati is my younger brother and we will talk. I will make sure that we find him another position within the Azimio government.” He added.
CAS Rachel Shebesh also echoed Sifuna’s sentiments arguing that Bahati shouldn’t complicate the coalition’s zoning deal since Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi, who was a popular candidate in Nairobi gubernatorial race shelved off in favour of Polycap Igathe.
“We have talked with Bahati several times asking him to work with us in the lager government. Bahati you are not even at the level of Tim Wanyonyi who dropped his bid to be in Nairobi governor” she said.
Bahati had earlier on cried foul after Jubilee party had revoked his nomination certificate to embrace the spirit of handshake and Azimio zoning in Nairobi county.
