Agnes Kagure To Support KEWOTA Mental Health Walk Campaign

Kagure commits foundation's collaboration with women teachers to enhance mental wellness

Nairobi-based tycoon and politician Agnes Kagure, who is reportedly eyeing the 2027 Nairobi Governor seat, has announced her support for the upcoming Kenya Women Teachers Association (KEWOTA) Mental Health Walk on the 26th.

Kagure, known for her philanthropic efforts and political ambitions, intends to unseat the current Governor, Hon. Sakaja Johnson, who is grappling with numerous challenges, including allegations of massive looting and an inability to address Nairobi’s economic, social, and physical issues, such as poor drainage.

During a  meeting with KEWOTA CEO Benta Opande and Treasurer Jacinta Ndegwa, Kagure expressed her admiration for the extra efforts made by teachers, particularly women, in supporting mental health wellness among education stakeholders. She emphasized the importance of mental health and reiterated her commitment to collaborating with teachers to upscale mental wellness campaigns.

Kagure stated, “I was amazed to learn of the extra efforts being made by teachers, especially women teachers, to support mental health wellness among education stakeholders, and as promised, my foundation will explore ways of collaborating with teachers to upscale mental wellness campaigns.”

She further added, “I’m also eager to support the upcoming KEWOTA Mental Health Walk on 26th that seeks to raise awareness and rally support around mental health.”

Agnes Kagure’s support for the KEWOTA initiative is part of her broader strategy to engage with various stakeholders and address pressing issues in Nairobi.

In recent past, she has been actively involved in community outreach, including donating food items to flood victims and supporting the education of poor and bright students. These actions have set her apart from current Governor Sakaja, who has been criticized for his administration’s failures.
