Bunge La Wananchi People’s Assembly has officially endorsed Agnes Kagure as the best candidate for Nairobi Governor in the 2027 election. The endorsement was made during a county-wide forum held at Westlands constituency, where representatives from all 85 wards of Nairobi came together to discuss the city’s leadership.

After deliberations, the assembly settled on Kagure because of her entrepreneurial achievements and her empowerment work, which many say have touched the lives of thousands of youth and women across the city.

Agnes Kagure is well known in Nairobi as a successful businesswoman with interests in insurance and real estate. Many see her financial success as proof that she understands how to manage complex systems, something Nairobi needs in a leader.

Beyond her business, Kagure has made a name for herself through philanthropy, especially with the work done by the Agnes Kagure Foundation.

Her foundation has been involved in real community issues. When a fire broke out in Kibera’s Mashimoni area, her team stepped in to help over 150 people who had lost everything. She has also supported the rehabilitation and empowerment of more than 800 former sex workers, helping them start small businesses and find dignity in honest work.

These efforts have earned her respect in many informal settlements across Nairobi.

Kagure first entered the political scene in 2022 when she ran for governor as an independent candidate. She was cleared by the IEBC and even received support from former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko. Though she didn’t win, she made it clear she was not done with public service.

Her campaign then focused on economic transformation, better healthcare, and dignity in service delivery. She also promised to retrain city askaris to stop harassment and improve customer service.

Bunge La Wananchi’s endorsement gives her a fresh boost. The forum, often viewed as the voice of ordinary citizens, rarely makes official endorsements, but this time they say Kagure stood out. Their support is based on what they call “real impact” and not just promises. They pointed to her track record of helping people without holding public office as a sign of her genuine commitment to the people.

While political endorsements always stir debate, this one is being taken seriously because of the forum’s grassroots reach. Kagure still faces the challenge of running in a tough race, but this backing may give her the momentum she needs to rally support early and push her agenda to make Nairobi work better for everyone.
