Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged Samburu County residents to support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 General Election.

During a church service and fundraiser in Baragoi Town, Gachagua appealed to locals to align with President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza side and abandon opposition leader Raila Odinga, emphasizing the potential benefits the region could receive under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Gachagua expressed confidence in President Ruto securing a second and final term.

“When deciding who to elect, don’t waste your votes on those in the wilderness. Vote for a leader you know has a better chance of clinching the seat. We have done our analysis and are confident William Ruto will emerge victorious again”.

“There is no need to waste your votes on someone in the wilderness. You can’t tell such a person to build roads or improve access to water. He depends on the government, just like yourselves.”

Samburu is a stronghold for Raila Odinga, with significant support in the region. In last year’s polls, the Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition presidential candidate received 59.33% of the votes (41,737 votes), while President Ruto secured 40.27% (28,329 votes).

Despite this, Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party won the governor, senator, and women’s representative seats in the fiercely contested election.

The deputy president pledged government support to address the issue, which has resulted in the loss of lives, both civilian and security officers. Gachagua issued a stern warning to the bandits and called on locals to collaborate with security agencies to end the banditry menace, referring to these activities as outdated cultural practices.

Additionally, he urged local administrators, including chiefs and assistant chiefs, to intensify efforts to combat illegal arms in the county.
