The Agnes Kagure Foundation has made a passionate appeal for action in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV), emphasizing the importance of breaking the silence surrounding this issue.

The Foundation stressed that silence and stigma are major factors that allow GBV to continue affecting countless lives in society.

“Every time we stay silent about gender-based violence, we perpetuate the vice

“GBV thrives in the shadows of silence and stigma, but we can change that by empowering victims to speak out and feel protected when they do,” read Agnes Kagure’s statement on socials.

The Foundation also urged community members, leaders, and organizations to join forces in its mission to end GBV. “Join our work, and together, let’s break the silence and shatter the cycle of violence!” it urged, calling for greater participation in raising awareness and supporting survivors.

Her Foundation’s recent remarks come as cases of gender-based violence continue to be a pressing issue, with many calling for more resources, better support systems, and stricter laws to protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable.

The message from the Foundation is clear—ending GBV requires collective action. By challenging harmful societal norms, supporting victims, and speaking out against violence, there is hope to create a society where survivors are protected, and justice is served.
