The Azimio La Umoja coalition is already looking into its alternative plans for Kalonzo in the event that the Supreme Court locks it out of government, it’s emerging.

The alliance is banking on the Supreme Court judges to revive it’s hopes of forming the next government, after its leader Raila Odinga lost to Kenya Kwanza’s William Ruto according to results released by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati on Monday last week.

It is emerging that it has noticed that anything can happen in court, and has moved in to ensure that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, one of it’s leading principals, is rewarded anyway.

Initially, it had been agreed that the former Vice President was to be Raila’s Chief Minister, only for Chebukati to announce Ruto as the winner.

Its due to the desire to see that Kalonzo is rewarded whether or not Raila forms government that, according to The Star, Azimio has began trying to install him as the National Assembly Speaker.

Azimio’s numbers in Parliament

As things stand at the moment, Azimio would have it relatively easy achieving this, with the coalition having the majority in the house, 162, against Kenya Kwanza’s 159 parliamentarians.

But Acting National Assembly Clerk Serah Kioko told the paper that the majority and minority sides will only be known once the IEBC gazettes them.

“We will rely on the results as gazetted and the coalition agreements as advised by the Registrar of Political Parties,” she told the paper.

Kenya Kwanza, on the other hand, is keen on having Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula take over the seat, according to an earlier agreement between him and Ruto.

This, however, will force the leader, who doubles up as the Ford Kenya chief, to resign from his post and battle it out with Kalonzo
