South Africa’s self-styled freedom fighter and Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) party leader Julius Malema has sent a strongly worded message to Azimio – One Kenya presidential aspirant over the just concluded general election, Raila Odinga to concede defeat and desist from instigating post-election chaos.

Speaking today Tuesday during EFF press conference, Malema stated that Raila’s decision to reject election results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati would ignite the country into chaotic mode and destabilize peace across the African continent.

“We call on Mr. Raila Odinga to accept the election outcome and not form part of a tradition of causing instability and uncertainty on African governance,” Julius Malema said.

“Mr Odinga must humble himself and form part of the government that will address the challenges confronting the people of Kenya and not to allow his country to remember him as an individual who has desperate for power at the cost of the progress of his nation” added Malema.

Malema’s remarks follow Raila’s protest over Chebukati’s results that declared United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua as president and deputy president-elect.

Chebukati declared Ruto as the winner of presidential election in the just concluded general election after garnering 7,176,141 votes that reflected 50.49 per cent of the total votes cast against his main challenger in the contest, Raila Odinga, who got 6,942,930 votes that represented, 48.89 per cent of the total votes cast.

Raila, through a battery of legal and constitutional lawyers has already lodged petition at the supreme court seeking to overturn Ruto’s win.

Raila argued that electoral processes were marred with irregularities that allegedly worked in favour of William Ruto. In his petition, he lamented that Ruto didn’t meet the constitutional requisite of 50% + 1 and therefore, Chebukati’s move to declare him (Ruto) as the president elect was a violation of constitution.
