The investigation into the murder of lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu has taken another step forward after detectives recovered a motorcycle believed to have been used to transport the suspected gunman before and after the fatal shooting.
The motorcycle, registration number KMGL 516L, was recovered following investigations involving three suspects who have already been arrested in connection with the September 9, 2025, killing. Among those arrested is Nicholas Lemiso Naula, a boda boda rider suspected of transporting the gunman on the day of the incident.
Detectives are now examining the motorcycle as they work to establish the movements of the suspected gunman and determine how the attack was carried out.
The recovery is expected to help investigators connect different parts of the case as they continue gathering evidence.
According to information from the investigation, Naula told detectives during questioning that he was riding the motorcycle on the day lawyer Mbobu was shot. His statement prompted detectives to begin tracing the motorcycle and establish where it had been taken after the incident.
The process involved following a trail of different owners before investigators eventually located the motorcycle. Detectives then recovered it and escorted it to the Homicide Offices, where it will undergo further examination as part of the ongoing murder investigation.
When the motorcycle was presented to him, Naula positively identified it as the one he had used to transport the suspected gunman during the fatal attack.
His identification has provided investigators with another detail to examine as they piece together the events surrounding the killing.
The recovery comes after detectives arrested the suspected gunman and two boda boda riders in connection with the case. Investigators have also recovered motorcycles believed to have been used in transporting the gunman and following the victim.
The various recoveries form part of efforts to establish the movements of those involved before, during and after the shooting.
The murder investigation has focused on identifying the people who participated in the attack and determining their respective roles.
