Dr. Thuo Mathenge Wanguku has broken his silence after being removed as the chairperson of the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KARLO), saying his support for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua remains unwavering.
In a statement posted on social media, Dr. Wanguku said he believes his dismissal was a consequence of his political support for Gachagua, whom he described as the “People’s President.”
“Ruto panics and sacks me as KARLO chairman for supporting the People’s President, Rigathi Gachagua. My stand remains firm leadership is about conviction, not intimidation,” he wrote.
He added the hashtag #WangukunaDCP, reaffirming his allegiance to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) led by Gachagua.
Dr. Wanguku said losing the position would not change his political beliefs, insisting that true leadership is guided by principle rather than fear or intimidation.
His statement comes amid heightened political rivalry between allies of President William Ruto and supporters of Gachagua ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The latest development is expected to fuel further political debate as leaders continue to trade accusations over alleged intolerance and political retaliation.
The government had not publicly responded to Dr. Wanguku’s remarks at the time of publication.
