Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has strongly dismissed viral allegations linking her to an affair with a county employee, terming them as baseless political propaganda.
On Monday, March 17, Wanga, who is currently in New York attending the UN Commission on the Status of Women, responded to the trending claims that her husband allegedly hired goons to attack Homa Bay County Chief of Staff Charles Odhiambo.
A well-known blogger alleged that Odhiambo was ambushed and severely beaten, leaving him in critical condition.

The rumors further insinuated that the attack stemmed from an alleged intimate relationship between Wanga and Odhiambo.
However, the governor swiftly shut down these claims, emphasizing that she remains focused on serving the people who elected her.
In a tweet, Wanga dismissed the allegations as politically motivated propaganda meant to distract her.
“Chilly morning here in New York as we wind up our week-long meetings at CSW. Na muache propaganda. Fortunately, I’m battle-hardened, focused, and undeterred. Blessed week ahead!” she wrote.
Suba North MP and National Assembly Minority Whip Millie Odhiambo also came to Wanga’s defense, slamming those spreading the rumors.

She condemned the use of social media to tarnish the reputations of women leaders.
“With Governor Gladys Wanga in New York for the UN Commission on the Status of Women. You touch a woman leader on unfounded issues relating to intimacy, you touch me,” Millie stated.
She further warned that those who share such baseless allegations are equally guilty of character assassination.
“Do not make this issue about Aoko. I am speaking to you normal, sober, educated man or woman who thrives on besmirching women leaders’ names. You share unfounded allegations, you are as guilty as that Aoko. In fact, you are worse,” she added.
The allegations have sparked debate, with Wanga’s supporters viewing them as a political smear campaign against the governor. Meanwhile, authorities have yet to confirm any reports of an attack on Odhiambo.
