Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has exposed key details of a recent three-hour meeting with Raila Odinga, revealing what he claims is the ODM leader’s calculated strategy to unseat President William Ruto.
According to Amisi, the meeting took place at Raila’s residence in Karen, where Raila pronounced himself clearly on the matter, viewing the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a crucial step.
Raila reportedly told Amisi that it would be easier to remove Ruto from power if his deputy was ousted first, suggesting a “one by one” approach.
Amisi stated that he had questioned Raila about why ODM MPs were backing Gachagua’s impeachment if their ultimate goal was to see both Gachagua and Ruto leave office.
In response, Raila allegedly pointed out that removing the Deputy President would weaken the administration’s stability, thereby paving a smoother path to impeach Ruto.
Amisi’s account hints that this could be part of Raila’s larger plan to ultimately oust Ruto from the presidency.
Speaking at a funeral in Kiminini on Saturday, Amisi shared these insights with the congregation, further asserting that ODM legislators are acting on the directive of their former party leader, Raila.
He hinted that this stepwise approach is likely to lead to increased political pressure within the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Amisi also issued a warning to President Ruto, stating that he could soon be on shaky ground if ODM intensifies its campaign for executive changes.
“The President is walking on thin ice,” Amisi remarked, adding that ODM MPs’ support for Gachagua’s impeachment reflects a broader push to hold the top leaders accountable.
The revelation is expected to escalate political tension within the ruling coalition, as Ruto has publicly distanced himself from ongoing political feuds and attempted to focus on fulfilling his administration’s promises.
However, Amisi’s disclosure may disrupt this stance and heighten scrutiny on the administration.
