A video clip shared by a local media station has sparked widespread concern after an unnamed Member of County Assembly (MCA) alleged rampant corruption within the Machakos County Government. The MCA claimed that senior county officials have been resigning or being sacked due to widespread looting of public resources.
In the video, the MCA highlighted the recent dismissal of Philip Kilonzo, the County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Lands, and Yubia, a well-known and vocal figure within the Machakos County Government. These sackings, according to the MCA, are just the tip of the iceberg in a broader pattern of mismanagement and corruption.
The MCA went on to allege that nearly 60% of the funds allocated for development during budgetary processes are being siphoned off into the pockets of individuals rather than being used for the intended projects.

Despite these alarming claims, the MCA lamented the silence of key criminal justice bodies such as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The video also targeted Governor Wavinya Ndeti, suggesting that the recent and ongoing trend of senior government officials being dismissed without following proper procedures is a sign that the governor may be trying to cover up the social vices within her administration. The MCA hinted that the governor’s actions could be driven by fear that the misconduct within the county government might eventually implicate her.
As these allegations continue to circulate, the public awaits a response from the Machakos County Government, and many are calling for an investigation to address these serious concerns.
All the same, by the time of going to the press, no single authority or official from the Machakos County Govt or the office if the Governor had responded to latest allegations that have angered Kenyans.
