Uhuru’s CS Ukur Yattani has rubbished claims that the country is broke, as has been alleged by some allies of President William Ruto.
Some Ruto allies have been claiming that former President Uhuru Kenyatta swept the Treasury dry before leaving power for retirement last week.
Among them is Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, who has claimed that Uhuru only left Sh93.7 million for the new government, alleging that the rest ended up in the pockets of people.
He made the remarks while defending the current situation in the country, where nothing major has changed despite Ruto’s campaign promises.
“The economy is no longer in ICU But Death because H.E Ruto found only 93.7M at the treasury, Uhuru went home with everything. State Capture is REAL! The country is broke Kenyans be patient H.E Ruto shall fix this through economic transformation and Prayers from all of us. Amen,” he said in a tweet.
But Yattani on Thursday rubbished these remarks, terming those making them people speaking from a point of ignorance and unawareness.
“Sometimes we argue out of ignorance. I really don’t know whether to sympathise with the situation because there is really a lot of ignorance about it,” the CS said as is quoted by The Star.
On Sunday, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua admitted that things are not as good in the National Treasury as they would have wished, telling Kenyans to have patience in him and Ruto and they look for ways of bettering the situation.
