A Jericho pistol that went missing during the burial of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has reportedly been found in Kisumu, according to claims made by blogger Abuga Makori.

The weapon was said to have been discovered in a small house located in Mbeme, one of the city’s densely populated informal settlements.

Reports indicate that four young men, believed to be in their late teens, were arrested during an early morning police operation in connection with the recovery.

According to the claims, officers acted on intelligence suggesting that the missing pistol was being hidden in the area and could soon be sold on the black market.

The weapon, which was said to have been loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition, was allegedly found lying on the floor of a dimly lit room when the police entered.

It is reported that the suspects were caught while discussing how to sell or get rid of the firearm.

The pistol is said to belong to a General Service Unit officer who was part of Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa’s security team during Raila Odinga’s burial in Siaya County.

The officer reportedly lost the weapon when a commotion broke out at the main gate of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University, where thousands of mourners had gathered.

As the crowd forced its way past security, chaos erupted, and in the confusion, a group of youths allegedly managed to grab the officer’s pistol before disappearing into the masses.

It is alleged that after the incident, the gun passed through several hands before finally being traced to Kisumu.

Investigators are said to be working to piece together how the weapon moved between different people and across county lines.

The arrested suspects are being held at Kisumu Central Police Station for questioning as detectives continue their investigation.

More arrests may follow as police pursue leads on those who might have been involved in the initial theft or in the chain of possession.

The incident has raised questions about how security was managed during Raila Odinga’s burial, which drew thousands of mourners and dignitaries.

Many people at the event reported losing personal belongings such as phones and wallets amid the chaos, as officers struggled to maintain order.

According to Abuga Makori, the recovery of the pistol could help restore confidence among the officers who were on duty that day.

Authorities are now working to confirm all details surrounding the recovery and to determine the level of involvement of each suspect.

Once investigations are concluded, the suspects are expected to face charges for handling stolen government property.
