Speaking during a Sunday service at Kitale Pentecostal Church on May 25, 2025, MP Caleb Amisi expressed his frustration with the silence and lack of support from Western Kenya leaders following the arrest of Governor George Natembeya.
The governor was arrested just a week ago and charged with corruption related to his work in office. However, Amisi strongly believes that the charges are not about corruption but are instead politically driven due to Natembeya’s vocal criticism of the Kenya Kwanza government.
Amisi did not hide his disappointment, especially with leaders from the region who he feels have chosen to stay quiet instead of standing by one of their own. He pointed out that despite Natembeya’s efforts to fight for the interests of the Western region, many of his fellow leaders have now turned their backs on him when he needs their support the most.

According to Amisi, this kind of silence only serves to weaken the region’s voice and strength in national politics.
He urged all Western leaders to stop watching from the sidelines and instead come together to defend Natembeya, who he described as a victim of political persecution.
Amisi made it clear that he believes Natembeya’s arrest has nothing to do with corruption but everything to do with his bold stand against the current regime. He insisted that Natembeya is being punished for speaking out and challenging the Ruto administration, and that the charges are meant to silence him.
The MP also called on other leaders to show the same courage he did by immediately coming out to support Natembeya when the arrest happened.
Amisi believes that if leaders in the region do not stand united in times like these, they will continue to be targeted one by one. He said the government is using corruption charges as a tool to silence critics, and that this should not be allowed to happen without resistance.

Amisi’s message was clear. He wants leaders from Western Kenya to set aside their political differences and defend anyone from the region who is targeted for speaking their mind.
He reminded them that today it is Natembeya, but tomorrow it could be any of them. In his view, failing to act now would only make the region weaker and more vulnerable to political intimidation.
With these strong words, Amisi has once again shown that he is not afraid to challenge the powers that be.
