Kimilili legislator Didmus Barasa has finally surfaced from his hiding after Serious Crimes Unit and Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers from Nairobi and Kimilili launched manhunt for the lawmaker for allegedly rebranding Constituency Development Fund (CDF) vehicle with United Democratic Alliance (UDA) emblems and posters bearing his image and Deputy President William Ruto.
According to Kimilili Sub-County Senior Superintendent Mwita Maroa, the lawmaker risks being charged with forgery and theft of government vehicle. Barasa took it to his Facebook page to pin the location indicating Great Lounge Resort Gardens in Kimilili.
The constituents tipped-off the officers based in Kimilili Constituency over Barasa’s secret move to rebrand the CDF vehicle with UDA posters.
“We took the initiative to go to the CDF offices but we didn’t find it there, so we proceeded to his home where we found it” said Mwita Maroa.
He also noted that officers from Serious Crimes Unit, Government Vehicle Check Unit and DCI have launched manhunt on the legislator to face the wrath of the law if proven guilty.
“We did this joint operation involving officers from government vehicle check unit from Nairobi, serious crimes unit and Directorate of Criminal Investigations from Nairobi and Kimilili” he added.
Barasa is also accused of illegally changing the number plate of the said vehicle from GK948J to KBS 709 D, which is said to belong to one of his brother’s vehicles.
Barasa is seeking to defend the parliamentary seat on UDA party ticket in August 9 battle
