Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga will soon find himself in a very tough position if he doesn’t change how he runs his party, Soy Member of Parliament David Kiplagat has warned.
He has taken issue with ODM’s recent move to expel some of it’s MPs for working with President William Ruto, a decision that though made by the Disciplinary Committee, is seen as a Raila doing.
Kiplagat has warned that this habit of chasing people away from the party is dwindling ODM’s numbers, and if not careful, Raila will soon realise that he is all alone or with very little allies in the party.
“ODM is dwindling and their numbers are shrinking. The party with the highest number of members is UDA. ODM is busy chasing members. When you chase everyone, you might realize that the people outside are more than those who are inside,” he said on K24 on Tuesday morning.
Those expelled include Lang’ata parliamentarian Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, one of the MPs who despite being elected through ODM, have insisted on working with Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza side.
They have even voted alongside Kenya Kwanza MPs in parliament, and claim that their decision to join Ruto has been informed by the need to work with government to deliver development to their people.
The group also has Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda and Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, both first time MPs. Those expelled have hinted at challenging their removal at the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.
Jalang’o, for instance, has defiantly said that he will be in office for the whole of his term, expressing confidence that ODM will not succeed in subjecting his constituents to a mini election.
