Tension briefly filled the corridors of the Milimani Law Courts after activist Julius Kamau was removed from a courtroom by police officers following a disruption during proceedings.

The incident unfolded as hearings were underway, drawing the attention of court officials and security personnel.

Witnesses inside the courtroom said Kamau raised his voice in protest, questioning the process before the court.

His actions interrupted the session, prompting the presiding judge to step in and order officers to restore order. Police then escorted the activist out of the courtroom as other court users looked on.

Security officers later confirmed that Kamau did not resist physically during the removal. However, he continued to voice his objections even as he was being led out, which they said made police intervention necessary to ensure the hearings could continue.

The disruption caused a short delay before the court resumed its work.

Kamau is widely known for his activism around civic rights and governance issues, and he has previously been involved in protests and legal battles linked to public accountability.

Following the incident, he was briefly detained for questioning within the court precincts before being released as officials considered the next steps.

Court authorities stressed that order and respect must be upheld at all times, noting that disruptions can undermine the justice process.

They warned that repeated incidents of this nature could lead to contempt of court charges.

Security presence was increased, while Kamau’s legal team had not issued any public response by the end of the day.
