Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed a shocking incident that left him questioning his security and the use of public resources.
Gachagua shared photos of a salon car, KCR 919U, and an NIS officer who followed him all the way from Nairobi to Makueni yesterday.
Through his X handlle, Gachagua expressed how this unnecessary action put his life in danger, calling on the National Intelligence Service to deploy resources more effectively.
“National Intelligence Service, please deploy this vehicle and this officer to do some useful work to enhance our security as a nation,” Gachagua wrote.
“It was pointless to waste fuel and man hours following me from Nairobi to Makueni. My life wasn’t at risk, but the real danger was the misuse of resources.”
Gachagua, who was in Makueni at the invitation of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, didn’t hold back in expressing his frustration.
He argued that the officer’s mission was a waste of public funds, adding that it would have been much more efficient for local officers to simply listen to his speech, record it, and send the details to the authorities instead of wasting resources on unnecessary surveillance.
The former Deputy President, who was impeached in October and replaced by Kithure Kindiki, is now making it clear that he expects the government to use public resources in a more practical, efficient manner.
His statement highlights concerns over the government’s handling of public funds, with Gachagua urging for greater accountability in security operations.
