Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth has made a reappearance in the political scene after a two-year absence.
During a burial service in Gatanga Constituency, Kenneth called for the resignation of government officials involved in the distribution of fake fertilizers. He also criticized the national government’s handling of the doctors’ strike and the issue of overtaxation.

Speaking to the public, Kenneth expressed concern over the suffering of Mt. Kenya residents, who are facing the consequences of unfavorable policies from the government. He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues, particularly the distribution of fake fertilizers, which is detrimental to the livelihood of subsistence and small-scale farmers.

“It is an embarrassment that people who are concerned with this fake fertilizer should make a normal call and quit. It is a disgrace that farmers are being given fake fertilizer and are being taxed when the fertilizer cannot be used for production,” Kenneth stated.

The politician also highlighted the ongoing doctors’ strike, describing it as a matter of humanity where services have to be provided to the people. He urged the government to take swift and decisive action to resolve the crisis and ensure that the healthcare system is functioning effectively.

In light of these demands, the government is now under pressure to address the concerns raised by Peter Kenneth and take appropriate action to alleviate the suffering of the people in Mt. Kenya and beyond. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen whether the government will heed Kenneth’s call and make the necessary changes to improve the lives of its citizens.

“We all grew up in this area where Coffee factories were being given genuine fertilisers. If a farmer is being given fake fertiliser and is being taxed when the fertiliser cannot be used for production, it is a disgrace,” he regretted
