Senator Godfrey Osotsi has asked for the immediate reinstatement of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement. He made the call during a joint parliamentary group meeting at the National Assembly in Nairobi.

Osotsi said the party is facing serious divisions and warned that removing leaders with differing views only deepens those fractures. He reminded members of the enduring legacy of Raila Odinga and quoted his words “Who told you?” as a call for unity. He also suggested ODM should aim higher and consider fielding a presidential candidate rather than settling for the Deputy President role.

During the same session, Osotsi raised concerns about the ten-point agreement ODM signed with President William Ruto and the United Democratic Alliance.

He said some counterparts are not implementing the deal in good faith and stressed that the March 7 deadline must be respected.

The meeting came shortly after Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga posted “Ni pawaaa tu!” on Facebook, a statement emphasizing the pursuit of political power. The post included a photo of Oburu smiling with Osotsi, sparking speculation that Osotsi may be shifting from the Linda Mwananchi faction to join Oburu’s Linda Ground faction.

Observers noted that the photo was taken during an ODM parliamentary group meeting chaired by Oburu. Some leaders allied with Sifuna skipped similar sessions, raising questions about possible realignments. However, Osotsi has not confirmed any defection.

Analysts believe the smiles could signal dialogue rather than a change of loyalty.

ODM is currently divided between two factions. The Linda Ground faction, linked to Oburu, favors structured negotiations and engagement with the government. The Linda Mwananchi faction, led by Sifuna, focuses on opposition politics and grassroots campaigns against high taxes and governance failures.

The party now faces a critical period as it prepares for its National Delegates Conference. Calls for unity are growing louder, yet disagreements over leadership, power sharing, and strategy continue to shape ODM’s path.

All eyes are on upcoming meetings to see whether reconciliation or further divisions will define the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
