Assassination claims took center stage at a church service in Kahawa West, as former Deputy President Hon. Rigathi Gachagua joined locals, accompanied by his allies, including Kipipiri Member of Parliament, Hon. Wanjiku Muhia.
The service turned controversial when Muhia, in a candid speech, alleged that she had received life-threatening messages from Kikuyu MP Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah.
According to Muhia, Ichung’wah had warned her that her days were numbered, an alarming message that left churchgoers stunned.
Wanjiku Muhia did not hold back in expressing her fears, publicly addressing the congregation and the nation, saying that if she were to go missing, it would be Kimani Ichung’wah and his “master” who should be held accountable.
Her remarks stirred concern, as she emphasized the risks she believes she faces due to her open criticism of the current government.
Muhia attributed the conflict with Ichung’wah to her outspoken stance regarding the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans, which she says some leaders close to President William Ruto fail to address.
She claimed that she had previously asked Ichung’wah to relay to President Ruto that Kenyans were increasingly unhappy with the state of the nation and the government’s performance.
Rigathi Gachagua, who spoke later, appeared to support Muhia’s views, warning that the downfall of President Ruto could come from within his inner circle. Gachagua claimed that some leaders close to the president are unwilling to face or acknowledge the truth about Kenya’s current struggles.
Referring to Ichung’wah’s alleged threats, Muhia said, “He told me my period is short. Bishop, I want to say in front of this church, if I go missing, ask that son of Kikuyu.
Meanwhile, we will continue to tell Ruto that SHIF and SHA are not working.” Her remarks underscored a growing unease among certain leaders over the direction of national politics.
