Japhet Dibo, an Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) official reported missing on Thursday, August 18, has been found.

Dibo’s attorney, Trevor Lichuma, who spoke to the NATION, revealed that his client had been arrested by unknown persons on Thursday evening and was released at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 19.

The electoral commission had contracted Dibo as an Information Technology Consultant in the just concluded general election. Mr Dibo worked KISM Towers, Nairobi County.

“Investigators associated with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (DCI) are investigating the case and we hope they get to the bottom of everything,” said Lichuma.

According to Dibo’s wife, Flora Aluoch, her husband had left his office on Thursday evening in the company of a stranger and never returned home.

Mrs Aluoch reported the matter to Kilimani Police Station under O/B number 39/19/08/2022. She revealed that her husband was last seen wearing a light blue shirt and navy blue pants.

Dibo, an IT specialist, owns Dial Africa, a platform that enables a smooth customer experience through interactions and is a cloud-based and AI-powered tool.

The incident comes at a time when the Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers have launched a probe into the mysterious murder of an IEBC official attached to Embakasi East Constituency Mr Daniel Mbolu Musyoka whose lifeless body was found dumped near Amboseli Park, Loitoktok in Kajiado county.

Mr Musyoka went missing on the election day, 9th of August, 2022 evening. He was the Returning Officer attached to Embakasi East Constituency.

Musyoka’s body was reportedly spotted by herders who hastily tipped the police and later taken to Loitoktok sub-county mortuary where Musyoka’s sister identified the body.

“His two sisters identified the body last night at the Loitokntok district hospital. We are waiting for a message from the police headquarters to take the body to the city’s morgue or to stay here,” said Loitoktok police chief Kipruto Ruto.
