Karuga Kimani, popularly known as KRG the Don, has officially announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
In a statement shared on his official Instagram page, the outspoken musician revealed that he is stepping away from music, showbiz, and influencing to focus on new priorities.
KRG explained that his decision was driven by a desire to devote more time to personal growth, business ventures, spirituality, and family. He also disclosed plans to transition into politics, with campaign activities expected to begin in 2026 ahead of Kenya’s next general elections.
“That phase of my life is done. Nimemalizana na entertainment (music, showbiz, influencing, and controversies),” he stated. KRG expressed gratitude for the experiences he had, including online feuds and public embarrassments, noting that he cherished every moment.
The artist hinted at resolving pending business matters privately before fully committing to his political ambitions. However, he did not specify which political office he intends to seek, teasing that he will keep it under wraps for now to avoid pressure and requests for support.
In an earlier interview, KRG revealed he intends to run for a parliamentary seat in 2027 but preferred to withhold the name of the constituency to avoid being overwhelmed with requests. “I don’t want people to panic right now… If they know where I’m vying, they’ll make it my personal business,” he said.
Known for his flamboyant lifestyle and controversies, KRG’s retirement marks the end of a colourful career in Kenya’s entertainment industry. His fans are now eagerly waiting to see how he will navigate the political arena in the coming years.
This announcement has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many fans expressing curiosity about his next move.
