Chaotic Incident in Kakamega After KDF and Kenya Police Officers Trade Blows in a Local Pub

A fight erupted at a bar in Musoli, Kakamega County, pitting Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers and Kenya Police officers over unpaid bill.

Mambo Mseto has tonight learned that  bar in Musoli, Kakamega County, became the battleground for a fierce confrontation between Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers and Kenya Police officers. The dispute, which erupted over an unpaid bill.

According to a police report verified by this writer, three officers had entered the bar for an evening of relaxation. The bar owner, who later reported the incident, claimed that he had served the trio drinks amounting to Ksh4,250, but they refused to pay.

The situation escalated when the officers allegedly stole the owner’s phone while leaving the bar. When the owner confronted them outside, they reportedly assaulted him.

The ensuing commotion attracted the attention of both the public and police officers on foot patrol within Musoli Centre. Officers from the nearby Musoli Police Station, located just 500 meters away, responded to the disturbance. However, the KDF officers resisted, attacking their colleagues with kicks and fists.

Despite their violent resistance, the offenders were eventually subdued and arrested. “They were placed in custody while very violent and drunk. They also maliciously damaged the cell’s steel door,” the police report stated.

The three individuals, who refused to provide their names and details, are suspected to be KDF and Kenya Police officers. They are currently in custody for assault, assaulting police officers, and malicious damage to property.

The police have indicated that the suspects are awaiting identification by the military police and the National Police Service (NPS).

This incident comes on the heels of two separate altercations involving police officers and their KDF counterparts at the Likoni Ferry and Rabai Sub-County.

A video clip circulated on Saturday showed five on-duty servicemen assaulting police officers and security officers stationed at Likoni Ferry. In another incident, a KDF officer stationed at Garissa stormed a police station at Rabai Sub-county, Kilifi County, and freed a suspect who was his cousin.
