Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has sparked conversation online following his sarcastic response to criticism about the increasing cases of abductions in Kenya.

The debate started after JKIA-Adani Whistleblower Nelson Amenya shared screenshots of Omollo’s reply to a direct message he reportedly received on WhatsApp

In the message, the sender boldly challenged Omollo to end ongoing cases of abductions and dared him to resist if he can wasn’t able to do what is expected of him.

Omollo reportedly replied with the same phrase, “Karibu Kenya,” interpreted as a sarcastic retort to the sender’s demand for action on abductions or resignation from his position. Amenya’s tweet quickly went viral, drawing both criticism and support.

The uproar comes amid widespread anger over the rising cases of abductions, with several individuals allegedly detained by state operatives for opposing President William Ruto’s government.

Some abductees have been accused of sharing AI-generated images of the president or satirical political content online.

Prominent legal figures like Senior Counsel Paul Muite and former LSK President Nelson Havi have since condemned the government’s handling of the abductions, threatening legal action to protect constitutional rights.

Amenya’s post has amplified public frustration, with many Kenyans accusing the government of weaponizing fear to stifle dissent. Families of the abducted have also shared heart-wrenching accounts of their struggles to locate their loved ones.
