Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka has dropped a bombshell that puts the Kenya Kwanza government in the spotlight for what appears to be an organized campaign of ethnic profiling.
In a televised interview, Kalonzo directly accused President William Ruto’s administration of using hired goons to map out and target Kikuyu-owned businesses in Nairobi.
According to Kalonzo, the goons were not acting independently but were part of a planned operation under Ruto’s leadership, aimed at singling out Kikuyu-owned shops across the city.
This disturbing claim paints a picture of a government that has crossed all lines of decency and constitutional order. If a state can deliberately orchestrate actions based on ethnicity, then it has completely abandoned its role as a unifying force and protector of all citizens.
Kalonzo’s words suggest that this was not an isolated act but a structured move involving profiling and possible future attacks or sabotage against a specific community known for its strong presence in the city’s business landscape. Instead of focusing on solving the economic crisis or addressing youth unemployment, Kenya Kwanza is being accused of fueling ethnic division for political gain.
This is a serious abuse of power. The same government that continues to defend its brutal response to peaceful protests is now being accused of turning against citizens based on their ethnic background.
Such actions are not only illegal but dangerous. Kenya has a long and painful history with tribal-based politics, and any move to revive such tactics for political survival is reckless and irresponsible.
The Ruto administration must be held accountable for every policy, plan, or secret operation that threatens the peace and cohesion of this country.
The silence from State House only adds weight to Kalonzo’s accusation. If this government had nothing to hide, it would have responded with clarity and transparency. But instead, there is avoidance, denial, and a push to silence dissent.
Kalonzo’s accusation fits into a larger pattern of state misconduct, from police brutality to shady foreign deals to misuse of public funds. Now, adding ethnic targeting to that list is a new low that cannot be ignored.
What the Kenya Kwanza regime is being accused of goes beyond politics. It is a betrayal of the Constitution, a betrayal of national unity, and a betrayal of the very people it claims to lead.
Using goons to identify and potentially intimidate or harm businesses based on tribal identity is not only immoral it is criminal.
The government should be investigated immediately, and those responsible must be brought to justice. Kenya must not allow any leadership to drag the country back into the dark days of ethnic hatred and violence. This is not leadership. It is provocation, and it must be stopped before it’s too late.
