“If asked, I’d say President Kibaki’s greatest legacy is Education. By making education free, possibilities opened up for many learners and families and the impact is still being felt today. Let us build on what he started and ensure that every child in Kenya gets access to free and quality education,” Hon. Agnes Kagure wrote on both her X and Facebook accounts on August 27.

In her message, Agnes Kagure first acknowledged that more job opportunities opened up during the Kibaki era adding that should be the case in alignment of vision 2030 that is around the corner.

She also encouraged the govt of the day and Kenyans at large on the need to continue improving on What Mwai Kibaki built instead of abandoning it when Education sector in Kenya is concerned.

Consequently, her plea comes amid the backdrop of confirmed reports that Pres William Ruto and his govt at large has been caught up between a rock and a hard place regarding the newly-proposed University Funding Model which many Kenyans especially students in the University have vehemently opposed with demos scheduled to take place next week

Also, there have been growing calls to merge all bursaries issues to Members of Parliament, Governors into one body and make education fully free in Kenya.
