Jalango is a superstar, a populist politician with a huge brand. He enjoys a massive following on social media. However, he needs to deface the notion of social media following and embark on rigorous campaign trails in Lang’ata constituency to secure the seat from UDA candidate Nixon Korir. He needs to muscle and up his political campaign games to face off a no joke opponent, Nixon Korir.
Incumbent Lang’ata legislator Nixon Korir has been projected as a candidate with steel balls who even at one time stopped Luo reggae at The University of Nairobi. Korir dethrone David Osiany in 2008/2009 in University politics. He ensured Osiany doesn’t head SONU for more than one term, contrary to tradition. Prof. Magoha attempted to rig in Osiany but Korir’s wave swayed them all.
Korir led the Usiku Usiku rebellion that was feared on all campuses. He developed his profile when he vehemently rallies thousands of students on campuses to endorse the 2010 constitution.
This one Korir together with self-proclaimed super senator Johnson Sakaja are the ones who rallied students to support 2010 constitution. They were assigned the task by Muthaura, Head of Public Service, by then.
Of course Jalango won the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in the primaries, but he might be forced to implement fresh tactics to downplay the steel balled Korir.
In 2017, Korir floored Sudi to ascend to the seat by a huge margin, portraying his solid ground grip in the race.
