Former KANU Secretary General Nick Salat has joined the list of former Azimio La Umoja members admitting that President William Ruto defeated them.

This is even as Azimio boss Raila Odinga, who faced off with Ruto in the 2022 elections, and those sarrounding him, refuse to acknowledge Ruto’s win.

But Salat, who was then in Azimio before decamping to Ruto’s side, has disagreed, maintaining that they indeed lost to Ruto and there was no foul play.

He has said that he is even ready to testify this, adding that the fact that he was with Raila at the time places him in a better place to know what happened.

Salat has added that he is even ready to stand before any court and say the truth.

“If any court wants to know the truth concerning the last presidential elections results, I am more than ready to testify to say William Ruto won the elections in broad daylight,” he told The Star on Monday.

“I was on the Azimio La Umoja team during the elections and sincerely speaking the Ruto camp defeated us squarely,” added the former Bomet Member of Parliament.

He bashed Raila and his associates for resorting to demonstrations and protests after his defeat, asking him to admit that he lost and focus elsewhere.

Salat also questioned the ongoing talks between Azimio and Kenya Kwanza, wondering why talks have to be initiated to appease election losers.

He held that what is going on is unconstitutional, asking Azimio to use the current time to prepare for the next polls if interested in forming government.

Salat added that even this way, it will still be almost impossible to remove Ruto from State House in 2027, terming him a performer.

“To defeat Ruto in the next polls, will be a difficult task because he is a performer,” he said.
