A new CCTV footage has revealed the last moments of a woman who died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment in Kasarani on Sunday morning.
The footage, obtained by the police, showed that the woman entered the short-term rental in the company of a man at around 3:00am. The man, who led the way, was dressed in a white t-shirt with black stripes, a black pair of trousers and white sneakers. The woman, on the other hand, was wearing a pink top and white trousers while carrying a grey-coloured sweater.
Upon arrival at the apartment, the man incidentally turned in the wrong direction before heading to the apartment the two had booked for the night. He then opened the door and the 19-year-old woman was the first to enter the apartment. He followed shortly after.
Witnesses had earlier told the press that they rushed to the scene of the accident after hearing a loud thud as the woman succumbed to the impact of the fall. They said they saw the woman lying on the ground with blood oozing from her head. They also said they saw the man running away from the apartment.
The police have launched a manhunt for the man, who is believed to be the main suspect in the case. They have also collected evidence from the apartment, including fingerprints, DNA samples and the CCTV footage. They have also contacted the owner of the apartment, who said he rented it out to the couple through an online platform.
The woman’s identity has not been revealed yet, pending notification of her next of kin. The police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
