Businesswoman and advocate Agnes Kagure, through her organization AKFO, is advocating for a transformative approach to ending gender-based violence (GBV) and femicide.
Kagure’s initiative emphasizes the critical role of men, not as perpetrators, but as active solution providers in addressing these pressing social issues.
Kagure’s “all-gender, all hands” strategy encourages the involvement of men at the forefront of the fight against GBV, highlighting that meaningful change can only occur when men are part of the solution
“We believe that with men leading the charge—working as partners rather than suspects—we can build a more harmonious society that enables women’s empowerment projects to thrive,” said Kagure.
Through AKFO, Kagure is working to engage men in educational programs that challenge harmful stereotypes, promote positive behavioral change, and encourage active participation in creating safer communities.
Her vision is to create an inclusive environment where both genders contribute equally to societal advancement.
Kagure stresses that, by involving men in this effort, it is possible to address the root causes of GBV and promote respectful, healthy relationships.
She is also advocating for greater collaboration between men’s organizations, women’s groups, and community stakeholders to create holistic, long-term solutions to violence.
As part of her broader advocacy, Kagure is calling for systemic change and increased support for initiatives that allow men and women to work together toward the shared goal of ending femicide and violence. Through her leadership at AKFO, Kagure is setting an example of how engaging men in the fight against GBV can help create lasting, positive change in society.
